General Santos City- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), together with national government officials and local leaders, attended a Situation Briefing at the Incident Command System (ICS) Center following the powerful earthquake that struck General Santos City and nearby areas.

Among those present during the briefing were DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, General Santos City Mayor Lorelie Geronimo Pacquiao, General Santos City Representative Shirlyn L. Bañas-Nograles, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon, Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Teodoro “Ted” Herbosa, Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Administrator Undersecretary Harold Cabreros, Department of National Defense (DND) Senior Undersecretary Irineo C. Espino, and DSWD Undersecretary Diane Cajipe.

The officials discussed the latest situation in affected communities, ongoing response operations, initial damage assessments, and the immediate assistance required to address the needs of families impacted by the earthquake.

The briefing also highlighted the strong coordination among national and local government agencies to ensure the timely delivery of relief assistance, essential services, and other interventions aimed at safeguarding the welfare and recovery of affected residents.
