The DSWD Field Office XII, through the Pag-abot Program, led by Pag-abot Program Head Reean N. Selma, conducted a series of coordination activities in the Municipality of Maasim, Sarangani Province, in support of the planned reintegration and sustainable livelihood of eleven (11) Sama-Bajau beneficiaries residing in Barangay Kamanga.
The team conducted a courtesy call with Municipal Mayor Zyrex C. Pacquiao to introduce and discuss the Pag-abot Program, its objectives, and the ongoing efforts to support the reintegration of the identified beneficiaries in their community. The discussion also emphasized the importance of the LGU’s support and participation in addressing the beneficiaries’ needs and strengthening their access to available local services.
The team also coordinated with the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist (OMAG) and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) to explore appropriate livelihood opportunities for the beneficiaries, particularly those involving bangka and fishing-related activities and bulad (dried fish) production, based on their skills and available local resources.
As part of the continuing coordination, the team also met with one of the identified landowners to discuss the possible usufruct agreement, which may provide the beneficiaries with access to suitable space for their proposed livelihood activities.
These collaborative efforts demonstrate the DSWD Pag-abot Program’s commitment to working closely with the LGU, partner agencies, and community stakeholders in establishing sustainable support mechanisms and livelihood opportunities for the successful reintegration of the Sama-Bajau beneficiaries.
Together, through strengthened partnerships and community support, Pag-abot continues to create pathways toward sustainable reintegration and improved opportunities for individuals and families in vulnerable situations.
