The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 12 recently awarded certificate of registration and license to operate to at least six social welfare centers and institutions, while 17 certificates of accreditation were released to various centers and individuals in SOCSKSARGEN region.
Zorahayda Taha, DSWD 12 regional director, said that the efforts of the agency has finally paid off as legal compliance to registration and accreditation has continued to rise in the region.
Taha also said, “we must continue to improve our work in order to meet the standards set forth in our social welfare policies. This ensures our people the opportunity to avail of services rooted on competence and on our legal obligation.”
Among those given the certificate of registration and license to operate were: RD Foundation, St. Vincent Strambl Home for the Aged, Inc., Sunrise Organization Philippines, Inc., Lifehome Mindanao, Inc., Emmanuel and inkee’s Heart Foundation, Inc., and Kalilintad Development Foundation, Inc.
Three Senior Citizen’s centers were also awarded with the accreditation certificates namely: Kabacan Model Senior Citizen Center (SCC), Kidapawan City SCC and Libungan SCC.
Two social workers from DSWD were duly accredited namely: Ali Namla from Regional Rehabilitation Center for the Youth, and Shierra Usop of Home for Girls and Women while 3 Pre- Marriage Counselors were accredited namely: Nelly Abuyog, Jean Gulmatico and Ivy Joy Fantone.
In Centers and Institutions, 5 received accreditation certificates. They were: Reception and Study Center for Children, Home for Girls and Women, Sarangani Home for Girls and Women, Vedruna Foundation, Inc and OND WES.
Three Civil Society Organizations also received accreditation certificates. They were Don Bosco Multi Purpose Cooperative (MPC), Makilala Multi Purpose Cooperative and Pangi MPC.
The Local Government of Bagumbayan also received same certificate for their Day Care Centers and Day Care Workers.
The DSWD serves as the Philippine government’s regulatory arm for NGOs and government agencies engaged in delivering social welfare and development programs and services as they translate the institutional view of development and ensure that the people become potential contributors to national development as enshrined in the 1987 Philippine Constitution.
