POPCOM – Edwin Mateo P. Quijano, Regional Director of Commission on Population shared that “this year, POPCOM is targeting 38,409 couples for the Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning Programs (RPFP).”
With its component, the Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning Programs which aims to help couples/parents and individuals achieve their desired timing, spacing and number of children through responsible parenting and family planning. Dir. Quijano expresses interest through a communication in accessing and utilizing NHTS-PR or Listahanan Database.
The issuance of the POPCOM Guidelines No. 1 series of 2014: Guidelines to Reduce Unmet Need for Modern Family Planning, Quijano mentioned in targeting couples for the conduct of the family development sessions or FDS classes and were expanded to include list in the NHTS-PR or Listahanan in identifying who are not beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Porgram.
“Based on last year’s report of 2015, we have almost covered the Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries and thus were given instruction to cover the next priority couples who are in the database of the NHTS-PR or Listahanan”, Quijano said.
Quijano added that as partner in the implementation of the program, RPM Teams conducted sessions through the Family Development Session of the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) among Pantawid beneficiaries. Also, for the past 4 years, the RPM teams concentrated on reaching the Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries which were the program’s priority target.
The list of poor families generated from the database, however, can be shared with national government agencies and other stakeholders upon execution of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between DSWD and the data user.
The Commission on Population (POPCOM) is said to be a coordinating agency in the implementation of the program on Philippine Population Management.
