Parang, Maguindanao — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XII, in its unwavering commitment to addressing involuntary hunger, successfully conducted a community validation and scope registration for the pilot beneficiaries of the Walang Gutom 2027: Food Stamp Program (FSP) on Friday, January 26, 2024.
With the ultimate goal of decreasing the incidence of involuntary hunger experienced by Filipino households and contributing to nation-building, the program is set to make a significant impact on the lives of the beneficiaries.
A total of 206 households were targeted as pilot beneficiaries in the validation and registration process, which included a comprehensive orientation on the program’s rules, profiling, and biometrics registration. This step is crucial for efficiently delivering benefits to those in need.
Out of the 206 households targeted as pilot beneficiaries, 57 beneficiaries were successfully validated and registered. The number of validated pilot beneficiaries is expected to increase as the list from SWS will be updated.
Qualified pilot beneficiaries are eagerly anticipated to receive their Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards, a key component of the program that will be utilized every market day or redemption day monthly, starting from the upcoming month. This innovative approach ensures a consistent and timely provision of monetary-based assistance to the beneficiaries.
Beyond addressing hunger, the FSP stands out as a flagship program of the government. It is not just about providing financial assistance; it’s a holistic initiative that invites beneficiaries to become more productive citizens. To achieve this, the program includes capacity building and training opportunities aimed at enhancing the employable skills of participants.
