General Santos City – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is currently convening a pivotal four-day workshop from March 11 to 14, 2024 in General Santos City.
Said event aims to evaluate the implementation of peace and development initiatives and strategize future endeavors in alignment with the country’s pursuit of sustainable peace and development.
Key participants include representatives from the Central Office, such as OUSISPSC, OASISPSC, PMB, DRMB, and FMS, and regional offices including Protective Services Division – EO70, Sustainable Livelihood Program – EO70 and PAMANA, and KALAHI-CIDSS PAMANA.
The participants actively engage in implementing peace and development interventions nationwide. Given recent proposals like the “Buong Bansa Mapayapa” program, DSWD recognizes the importance of assessing program implementations and coordinating efforts effectively.
Expected outputs will contribute to drafting a comprehensive Manual of Operations for Peace and Development Program Management Units (PD-PMU) and regional counterparts.
During the opening program, RD Cabaya warmly welcomed the participants, expressing his personal commitment to peace and development initiatives and recognizing the significance of efforts on the ground in achieving these goals. While, ASec. Arnel B. Garcia emphasized the collaborative nature of the endeavor, highlighting their pioneering efforts in crafting a peace and development program that is not only efficient and effective but also embodies a holistic, nationwide approach.
USec. Alan A. Tanjusay remarked, “Each and every one of you gathered here are peace and development angels in red vest. Your presence symbolizes the catalyst for positive change in communities ravaged by conflicts. As catalysts of change, you exemplify selflessness and serve as vital community organizers, igniting transformation and hope wherever you go.”
The DSWD anticipates fruitful deliberations and productive outcomes from this significant workshop as it continues its unwavering pursuit of peace and development for the Filipino people.
