Isulan, Sultan Kudarat — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 12 distributed Php 7,005,000.00 in livelihood assistance to 467 individuals from the municipalities in the 1st District of Sultan Kudarat through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) only recently.

This initiative aims to enhance the livelihood capabilities of disadvantaged communities by providing start-up capital, enabling participants to purchase raw materials, small tools, and other essential facilities to launch or expand micro-enterprises.

Each participant received a one-time grant of Php 15,000.00. The assistance supports a wide range of entrepreneurial ventures, including sari-sari stores, rice wholesaling, animal farming, rice wholesaling, food vending, tinsmith shop, car washes, chair and table rentals, salted egg production, welding shops, agrivet supplies, native chicken farming, and ready-to-wear shops.

The funds for this initiative were sourced from the office of Congressman Sandro Marcos, allocated to the 1st District of Sultan Kudarat, through the office of Congresswoman Princess Rihan M. Sakaluran. This activity is also supported by the Provincial Governor Hon. Datu Pax Ali S. Mangudadatu.

The payout ceremony was attended by notable guests, including Alilie Guntang on behalf of PSWDO; Hon. Ian Jordan Abalos; Hon. Carlo Apiado; SB members Moises Dolar, Darlene and Marvin Dalawon; Miramel Garcia-Laxa, SLP Director, National Program Management Office; and Loreto Jr. V. Cabaya, Regional Director of DSWD 12.

In her speech, Director Miramel Garcia-Laxa emphasized, “This livelihood grant given to you is a stepping stone. Take care of it and make it grow to ensure its sustainability.” RD Cabaya added, “As you receive this grant, promise yourself to manage the funds and your livelihood well. We hope to see you on stage next time, sharing your own success stories.”

Liza Quisto, a program participant from Isulan, expressed her gratitude, saying, “We are incredibly thankful for this opportunity. The grant will significantly help us in starting our small businesses and improving our family’s livelihood. We promise to use this assistance wisely and strive for success.”

The event marked a significant step forward in the collective efforts to improve the quality of life for the people of Sultan Kudarat through sustainable livelihood opportunities.
