DSWD-12 strengthens Project LAWA at BINHI implementation through monitoring, cash-for-work, and community-based activities

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XII continues to reinforce the implementation of Project LAWA at BINHI through close coordination, field monitoring, and support to climate-adaptive and community-led livelihood activities across Region 12.

In the Municipality of Lebak, Sultan Kudarat, the RRP Sultan Kudarat Team conducted monitoring activities in barangays covered under the 2025 implementation of Project LAWA at BINHI. The activity ensured that project components are properly carried out at the grassroots level, with an emphasis on promoting sustainable practices and building resilience among communities.

In Sarangani Province, the RRP Sarangani Team successfully facilitated two separate Cash-for-Training / Work (CFT/W) payouts under Project LAWA at BINHI. A total of 400 partner-beneficiaries in Malapatan received cash assistance on June 18, followed by another 250 beneficiaries in Glan on June 19, 2025. The payouts serve both as compensation for participants’ involvement in disaster-resilient community tasks and as direct support for their livelihood recovery and adaptive capacity.

Meanwhile, the RRP South Cotabato Team joined the Liberty Peace and Development Volunteer Farmers Association (LPDVA) in Barangay Liberty, Tampakan, South Cotabato. Alongside partner agencies including OMAG, BFAR XII, and PCIC, the team participated in the stocking of 3,500 tilapia fingerlings into a newly rehabilitated fish pond and the planting of 50 assorted fruit-bearing trees around a communal garden. The activity reflected the collaborative effort and shared vision for food security, sustainability, and local development.

These efforts underscore DSWD-12’s commitment to proactive and inclusive program implementation—empowering communities through well-monitored interventions that address climate-related risks while fostering local participation and self-reliance.
