KORONADAL CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office XII (DSWD F.O XII) aims to help 4,069 households of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) to graduate/exit in the program for year 2022.

Restituto B. Macuto, regional director of DSWD F.O XII expressed his statement during media interview that such target is subject for validation and case management. The numbers are based on the result of their on-going assessment on the status of more than 220,183 household beneficiaries in the region.

He said the assessment was prepared through the social welfare development indicator (SWDI), a tool used by the agency to determine the well-being of its program beneficiaries.

“Ito ang pinagsisikapan namin for this year (2022) na marami pang mga 4Ps ang makapagtapos sa programa para maraming pamilya pa ang makapasok,” (Our goal is to help more 4Ps achieve self-sufficiency so we could include other poor households in the program.) Macuto explained.

Among 220,183, there are 63,465 households who are now self-sufficient and recommended  to exit in the program; 87,344 are under the subsistence (level 2) or whose family income is only enough to cover their daily needs while only 890 are still under survival (level 1) and still need assistance from the government.

Meanwhile, Naifah S. Balindong, Regional Program Coordinator of 4Ps confirmed that Pugay Tagumpay, a celebration of milestone of exiting beneficiaries will be happening whole year-round with coordination of concerned Local Government Units.

“The graduates of Pugay Tagumpay are the living testimonies of the agency that conditional cash transfer program of the government had somehow lessened the poverty incidence in the region” Balindong added.

The goal of 4Ps is to break the intergenerational cycle of poverty through investment in human capital and improved access and delivery of basic services to the poor, particularly education, health, nutrition, and early childhood care and development. (Audrey Soliva, DSWD XII)
