KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato — A senior official of Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in the region assured the public more safeguards are now being push for the implementation of government’s flagship anti-poor program.
Bai Zorahayda T. Taha, DSWD-12 regional director, said Monday around 600 workers are closely monitoring the compliance of beneficiaries under Conditional Cash Transfer scheme.
“We are also studying if biometric system will work for the CCT to make sure the aid goes to intended recipients,” she said.
Over 213,000 households are currently covered by CCT program in Central Mindanao.
The CCT provides direct education and health subsidies for families who comply with certain conditions, including regular school attendance for children and regular health center visits for mothers.
Three children aged 14 and below are given 6.9 USD a month each while the mother receives 11.6 USD monthly for every family chosen to benefit under the CCT.
“We will strickly implement sanctions against officials or employees found to be negligent in allowing the unauthorized inclusion of household-beneficiaries,” she said. (End)
