Kidapawan City – Singao Urban Farmers SLPA and Lanao Urban Farmers SLPA succesfully culminates their inaugural hydroponics harvest, marking a significant milestone in their joint effort to address food insecurity in urban communities.

Established just last March, these hydroponics farms swiftly became pillars of hope, providing sustainable solutions to food production challenges. With 25 members each, these livelihood initiatives not only empowered individuals but also bolstered community resilience in the face of hunger and poverty.

The activity was honored by the presence of esteemed representatives from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg), including Dina L. Abidong and Charlie P. Pabellan, alongside with Lucky Benjie Gumapac the representative from the City Agriculturist Office. Their attendance underscored the vital importance of collaborative efforts in achieving food security goals.

Hydroponics farming represented a paradigm shift in agriculture, offering innovative techniques to cultivate crops in urban environments with limited space and resources. Singao Urban Farmers SLPA and Lanao Urban Farmers SLPA were at the forefront of this agricultural revolution, embodying the spirit of progress and sustainability.

The event also highlighted the significance of the Zero Hunger Program, a comprehensive initiative aimed at mitigating hunger, ensuring food and nutrition security, and alleviating poverty in both urban and rural communities, including marginalized groups. By embracing hydroponics farming, these SLPAs actively contributed to the realization of these noble objectives.

As the world deals with not having enough food, these groups show that communities can make a big difference. They prove that by working together and trying new things, we can fight hunger and make life better for everyone.
