General Santos City – Today, April 22, marks a significant milestone in the pursuit of educational empowerment as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) XII launches the TARA BASA! Tutoring Program. The momentous occasion took place at the Mindanao State University (MSU) Gensan, coinciding with the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and the program’s official inauguration.
In addition to the MOA signing and program launch, DSWD XII’s partners committed their unwavering support by signing the pledge of commitment. Notable attendees included DSWD XII Director Loreto Cabaya, Gensan Councilor Lourdes Casabueana, representatives from the Department of Education (DepEd) Gensan and MSU-Gensan, as well as dedicated Barangay Officials.
“Today, we embark on a journey towards fostering social change and development through education,” expressed Director Loreto Cabaya. “Together, we aim to provide our children with the tools they need to thrive, benefitting not only the students but also our dedicated youth development workers.”
Recognizing the vital role of collaboration in achieving this goal, Director Cabaya extended his personal gratitude to the partners and stakeholders for their invaluable support and commitment to the program.
In line with the program’s mission to ignite hope through literacy, Director Cabaya reiterated, “Ang mga kabataan ang daan sa Bagong Pilipinas.” As the program motto emphasizes, “Sa pagbasa, may pag-asa, kaya Tara, Basa!”
