General Santos City – In order to end hunger, uplift the lives of people living in streets and enhance reading capabilities among young students, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) conducted Information Caravan to bring government services closer to the people.

Leading the information drive are the DSWD Official, Sec. Rex Gatchalian along with his undersecretaries, assistant secretaries and DSWD XII officials led by Dir. Loreto Jr. V. Cabaya.

Over 20 Local Chief Executives from different municipalities, provincial government and congressional offices in Region 12 and BARMM attended the Information Caravan and get familiarized with the new programs of the agency.

Among the featured programs are WALANG GUTOM 2027, Tara Basa Tutoring Program and Oplan Pag-abot Program that are related to the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028 and the administration’s 8-Point Socioeconomic Agenda.

During the activity, Sec. Gatchalian highlights the Listahanan or the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction as the primary basis in identifying the beneficiaries for the new programs of the department.
