Following the cases of cash card pawning in Malungon, Sarangani Province, the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program of the DSWD 12 boost ordinance through an information caravan yesterday, July 3, 2024, in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Malungon.
Organized by the Municipal Convergence Office (MCO) of Malungon, the activity aims to highlight the Municipal Ordinance 2021-159-14, or the Anti-Pawning of 4ps cash cards, in support of the LGU in its commitment and partnership in implementing the 4Ps Act of 2019.
Dir. Loreto Jr. V. Cabaya witnessed the collaborative efforts between the LGU led by Municipal Mayor Theresa D. Constantino, along with its 31 barangay leaders, and the MCO of Malungon in addressing the issues that distress the welfare of the Pantawid beneficiaries.
Naifah S. Balindong, Regional Program Coordinator of the 4Ps, mentioned that according to the data gathered from the DSWD 12 Grievance Tracker, there have been over 1,800 reported cases of misbehavior, including pawning of cash cards since the implementation of the program.
Apart from Malungon, there are several towns in Region 12 penalizing the pawning of 4Ps Cash Cards, such as Glan in Sarangani Province; Senator Ninoy Aquino, Isulan, and Kalamansig in Sultan Kudarat; Antipas and Kidapawan in Cotabato Province.
