Datu Abdullah Sangki, Maguindanao Del Sur — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XII successfully launched the scale-up implementation of the Walang Gutom Program today with the first Food Redemption Day held at the Sports Complex in the Municipality of Datu Abdullah Sangki. This significant event marks a crucial step in the government’s ongoing efforts to eradicate hunger and promote food security in the country.

The event was attended and headed by the Regional Director of DSWD 12, Loreto Jr. V. Cabaya, who emphasized the government’s continuous efforts to support more people. He highlighted the beneficiaries’ fortune in being part of the program and encouraged them to take care of and cherish the assistance they receive. He expressed hopes that the beneficiaries will strive even harder in life to support their families and maintain good health.

Hon. Suharto Al Wali S. Mangudadatu, the Municipal Mayor, also spoke at the event, emphasizing that through the Walang Gutom Program, no citizen will go hungry. His message reinforced the program’s goal of ensuring food security for all residents.

Today marked the first day of the Food Redemption event, catering to 156 households. Tomorrow, July 19, 2024, an additional 228 households will be served, bringing the total to 384 households. This two-day event ensures that a significant number of families in the municipality receive the food assistance they need.

The Food Redemption event is a key component of the Walang Gutom Program, providing beneficiaries with access to a variety of nutritious food items tailored to their dietary needs. Beneficiaries can utilize their Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards during the redemption process, enhancing convenience and efficiency.

Other notable attendees included Hon. Al-Iskandar Khadaffi Sangki, the Municipal Administrator; Salama Kadon, the Provincial Nutritionist Action Officer, representing Governor Bai Mariam Sangki-Mangudadatu; Olive Obsines, the Regional Director of Universal Storefront Services Corp.; ABC President Edris Sangki; and other local government officials of Datu Abdullah Sangki.

The presence of these dignitaries underscored the broad support and collaborative effort required to make the Walang Gutom Program a success.

The Walang Gutom Program remains steadfast in its mission to eradicate hunger and promote food security across Maguindanao Del Sur.
