A 31 year old artist and sculptor from South Cotabato today wins the Poster Making Contest initiated by Department of Social Welfare and Development 12 in line with the celebration of the Women’s Month every month of March.

Ranel Ricabar said that his concept highlighted the rights of women that are not being respected by some communities in both urban and rural areas. “I wanted to these rights to be at the limelight because there is a need to change the people’s misconception about women like their limited capacities.”

Ricabar said, “I used water-based acrylic on canvass that features the value of women in our society.”

The poster -making contest was just one among the many events in the calendar of Women’s month celebration. DSWD 12 also conducted a Motorcade around Koronadal City, a lecture on Anti-violence against Women and Children and orientation on HIV-AIDS to some centers and institutions.

DSWD 12 is also set to conduct an advocacy campaign against child pornography and human trafficking during the culmination program.

This year’s theme is “Kapakanan ni Juana, Isama sa Agenda,” a campaign to fight for women’s rights and their welfare.
