The Depart of Social Welfare and Development spearheaded the annual observance of the 2017 Adoption Consciousness Celebration in partnership with the National Organizing Committee (NOC). The Department shall have series of activities aligned to encourage everyone to support and take part. The Celebration commenced last February 11 until 19, 2017 with the theme: “Pagmamahal Palaganapin, Legal na Pag-aampon Ating Gawin! (Spread Uncoditional Love through Legal Adoption)”.

Sarah M. Lucman, SWO II, Head of ARRU, said that “the official color of the Adoption Consciousness Celebration in “fuschia” as the color was already associated with the celebration for the past two years. Also, in physocology, the color “fuschia” represents passion, nurturing, love and universal love of oneself and of others.”

For the past two (2) years of celebrating, the National Organizing Committee (NOC) agreed to sustain the logo – a picture of a family – as it symbolizes love and family.

“Love Finds Worth in Legal Adoption” placed under the logo can be replaced to “Spread Unconditional Love through Legal Adoption” said by Sarah.

The celebration also encouraged everyone the use of #adoptionislove and #legaladoptionisright on their social media accounts and even use the Adoption Consciousness Celebration logo as a temporary Facebook profile picture.

The one week celebration started with a province-wide simultaneous motorcade to spread awareness and engage everyone to take part in the advocacy campaign on legal adoption of abandoned, surrendered and neglected children.

Director Bai Zorahayda T. Taha also shared the result of the 2nd round nationwide household assessment of Listahanan on Magnitude of Poor among Basic Sectors specially the Identified Poor Children in Region 12. Listahanan assessment shows that there are 982, 263 poor children in SOCCSKSARGEN: North Cotabato – 374,378, Cotabato City – 34,173, Sarangani – 150,847, South Cotabato – 221,765, and Sultan Kudarat – 201,100.
