Midsayap, Cotabato Province – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) XII has taken a significant step in enhancing disaster response and community resilience with the successful launching of the Building on Social Protection for Anticipatory Action and Response in Emergencies and Disasters (B-SPARED) project.
The project’s milestone launch and MOU signing ceremony was graced by the presence of esteemed personalities, including Disaster Response Management Bureau (DRMB) Director Michael Christopher Mathay, Project Team Leader of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Ruth Georget, DSWD XII Director Loreto Jr Cabaya., Midsayap Mayor Rolando Sacdalan, as well as community leaders and Barangay officials representing the five identified barangays for the project.
Fatima Duylan, a community leader from one of the identified Barangays, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the B-SPARED project, “We are truly thankful for this project, as it comes as a big help to our community. With our Barangay being a flood-prone area, the B-SPARED project brings much-needed support and resources to enhance our disaster preparedness and response,” Duylan shared.
The B-SPARED project is a pivotal endeavor that aligns with the Adaptive and Shock Responsiveness Social Protection (ASRSP) System, with the overarching aim of reinforcing the resilience of households, particularly those facing conditions of poverty, to effectively cope with emergencies and disasters.
The project launch showcased the commitment of the DSWD XII and its partners to elevate the quality of disaster response and social protection measures. (JDD & DGB/DRMD)
