Koronadal City – Both senior citizens-employees and barangay-organized seniors were highlighted during the launching day of the Elderly Filipino Week here.

Held during the Flag Raising ceremonies, employees of DSWD12 60 years old and above were serenaded with the renowned “Kahit Maputi na Ang Buhok Ko,” reassuring endless love and care in their lifetime.

The senior citizens association from Banga, South Cotabato displayed their physical strength in a millenial dance move and a Rondalla exhibition from seniors of Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat.

Loreto Jr. Cabaya, DSWD12 regional director expressed appreciation on the contribution of the elderly sector in nation-building.

He said, “let us not forget the invaluable legacy that they have established on the younger generation especially in the development of families and communities.”

The Elderly Filipino Week is celebrated yearly every 1st week of October.
