Glan, Sarangani Province – For the first time since its availability in 2022, the DSWD12 set up its Emergency Communication Device or ECD, a tool that helps responders communicate better in times of disaster.

Ryan Ibones, head of Information and Communication Technology Management Section (ICTMS) of DSWD12 said, “the device ranges up to 25km radius from its base and is vital in the absence or lack of network signals.”

“The ECD, which composed of 8 mobile units apart from its base unit provides clearer communication among responders assigned in far-flung barangays and provides immediate feedback on various situations on the ground,” Ibones said.

Based in central location of Glan near town’s gymnasium, said ECD is the agency’s proactive measure to deliver its services on time and prevent communication breakdown or issues.
